Went crazy today and picked up some more things for Skylar. There is literally nothing I love more than shopping for him, hands down my favorite thing to do- especially when it’s things for therapy. Last week for his birthday I also splurged and got him so many things, a bubble machine, sail boat, wooden train, Mr. Potato head, etch a sketch, dry erase board/chalk board, more books, cars, the list goes on and on.
I’ve developed most of his goals I have for this following year, including short & long term goals. From this I will work on his curriculum for our first year of home school :)
Speech
Signs to learn- Help, All done, Hungry, Thirst, Change, Bedtime
Words- Greetings (hi/bye), Help, daddy, Thank you, & to work on imitating familiaranimal sounds so we can work on his speech
Identifying Body Parts & Clothing
He still hasn’t mastered all body parts because he gets them confused- eyes, ears, mouth, arms/legs, hands/feet
Shirt, shorts, shoes/socks
Physical Therapy
Walk with hand held, eventually take first steps unassisted
Build strength and use of left foot/leg
Occupational
Feeding independently with utensils
Assistance with dressing (he is already starting to!)
Drawing lines, circles, & tracing
Stacking blocks (still refuses to stack, only throws them lol)
Gain at least 40% use of left hand
Cognitive
Sorting/Identifying colors & shapes
Identifying familiar animals
After he’s mastered all of the above, I would like to introduce the Alphabet and numbers (1-10)
Sensory
Skylar has a lot of sensory issues involving sounds and textures, so I’m going to work on these issues with different methods
Finger painting
Play doh
Sensory boxes
Bubbles
Music
Outdoor time & Exploring
We’ll be doing a lot of reading every day since Skylar enjoys books so much, weekly field trips and along with introducing potty training. He is now telling me when he goes to the bathroom in his diaper and I am so excited to start. I met a special needs pre k teacher that lives right by my parents so she will be helping me develop his curriculum. I’m so happy right now.
I also wanted to give a huge and very sincere thank you from me to you, and all of my customers. I literally would not know what I would do without you. You guys mean so much to me, and all of you help me with Skylar. I am so grateful.
